Sandeels are a small simline fish which are a vitally important part of the marine ecosystem. Sandeel is a term for a number of species of small fish.

Although they are called Sandeels and look like a eel  they are however a fish,

which are found in huge numbers throughout the waters of Britain and Europe. … The lesser sandeel

is the most commonly used as bait by anglers.They bury  into the sand and on some sandy beaches at low tide you can dig a trench in the sand  and collect your own eels be quick though as they are very fast.

The humble sandeel will catch a vast array of fish from,

Bass,Bream,Rays ,Mackerel,Pollock,Whiting,Turbot,Brill ,

most fish like a Sandeel .

How to i keep Sandeels  before fishing ?

With Frozen Sandeels its easy, keep them frozen until you are on the beach .
They will defrost extremely quickly so no need to thaw out before you go fishing

How do i bait up a Sandeel

Use a Baiting needle is the best way ,
simply place the needle inside the eel , then slide the eel up the needle and onto the hook.
then bind with Bait elastic to  keep the eel onto the hook,This will give great results .You can fish with Sandeels whole or in halfs ,sections and, on bigger Sandeels you can fillet them too, a very versatile fishing bait.

I only use my sandeels when i fish as in my opinion they are one of the best eels out there , they thread on like a worm not mushy like others ,very Fresh quality sandeels.

This depends on what fish you are targeting to be honest, for example ,3/0 hooks for Bass,Pulley Rigs,Pulley Droppers or Up and Over rigs are good , Flapper rigs are good if you are targeting smaller fish.
