Live Ragworm – ¼ lb | Hand Dug Daily

All our ragworm is hand dug daily and stored in commercial fridges to maintain maximum freshness. One of the most popular baits in sea angling, ragworm is effective for beach and boat fishing, catching almost every species of fish.

What is Ragworm?

Ragworm is a common sea fishing worm, available in two main types:

  • King Ragworm (Alitta virens): Large worms, 8–12 inches long.

  • Smaller Ragworm (Perinereis cultrifera): Ideal for smaller species.

They can be dug along coastlines in the UK, Ireland, and other regions.

How to Collect Ragworm

Ragworm live in U-shaped burrows between low and high tide marks. Look for small holes or spurts of water in sand, mud, or shingle. Always be cautious—mudbanks can be dangerous if you are unfamiliar with the area.

How to Rig Ragworm

Ragworm can be used with:

  • 1, 2, 3 Hook Flappers

  • Pennel rigs

  • Clipped rigs (for larger worms targeting stingrays)

Use sharp hooks like Kamasan, Mustad, or Sakuma, depending on your target species.

Fish You Can Catch

Ragworm is effective for most UK shore and boat species, including:
Bass, Bream, Sole, Flounder, Plaice, Rays, Wrasse, Smoothhound, and more.

How to Bait with Ragworm

Simply thread the worm onto the hook, ensuring the hook gape and barb are visible for maximum effectiveness.

Storing Live Ragworm

Live Ragworm (¼ lb) can be stored in a fridge or cool place for several days to maintain freshness.
